EnterprisingYou runs a range of events each month, and one of the most popular has been the Have A Brew With EnterprisingYou Women's Coffee Morning.

women coffee networking

Rebecca Levene and I are business coaches on the programme. We saw that our female clients all had similar challenges and set up an informal monthly catch up to bring women together. We started this virtual meeting in September 2020, and it's been going strong ever since. We're now running these sessions in person with a different focus each month, and our ladies love them!

The theme of the coffee morning in April was Health & Wellbeing. EnterprisingYou is unique with one of the core offers in this area for our self-employed clients. Every client gets access to Health Assured (a 24/7 online self-help support system) and regular health & wellbeing webinars. It's an important area to focus on as often the self-employed are one-man bands, so they don't have anyone to take over if they are ill. Some of our clients come to the programme with various physical and mental health issues. Covid continues to impact people for two years on. The pandemic has had a significant impact on their mental health too.

During the coffee morning, Rebecca and I discussed how tough it could be when your health impacts your business negatively. We had some brave business owners talk through their health issues. These were a range of physical and mental health problems, lots of which impacted people's ability to run their businesses. Followed by a discussion about the importance of looking after your health & wellbeing, and the ladies came up with a range of top tips to help.

Top Tips To Help Your Health & Wellbeing
  • Make sure you schedule time each day/week to focus on H&W.
  • Take regular breaks.
  • Make things accessible for yourself.
  • Exercise daily – including time outside. Find whatever you love to do – walk/run/gym/dance to music.
  • Talk to someone – a friend/professional.
  • Manage your time.
  • Breathe properly – Take time to do full belly breathing and breathe down!
  • Stop the guilt about taking time away from the business. You'll be more productive.
  • Have a routine.
  • Have a realistic To-Do List with a plan for the day.
  • Make lifestyle changes.
  • Get professional help when needed.
  • Know your triggers.
  • Make your work environment nice – light a candle.
